The Florida State University Faculty Winds featured Klezmer Overture by Brian Wilson (Music) on October 27, 2023, at the College Music Society National Conference in Miami. Wilson is currently Vice President of the CMS Southwest Chapter.
Klezmer Overture for Woodwind Quintet is based on newly composed material with motives evocative of Klezmer and recognizable tunes from the Jewish liturgy. The "squeaky" sound in the clarinet simulates the Klezmer “krecht” or "cry.
Horn player Michelle Stebleton said, " Your piece was engaging, fun for us to play, and the audience seemed to love it! Thank you for letting us be a part of this piece's journey!"
